Korea

Ah yes, Land of the Morning Calm. Though not such a "calm" place anymore, at least not if you are roaming its sprawling metropolises, this country is still one hell of a land to see and explore. Having a long history of interaction with my other two main countries of interest, China and Japan, and often serving as the central link of cultural, linguistic, and religious interaction between these two neighbors, Korea has always been that elusive last (i.e. third) country on my short list of places to live for an extended period of time and explore extensively. I made a couple of trips to Korea while living in Japan and on my way to live in China several years ago, but it wasn't until the summer of 2006 that I was finally able to actually live in Seoul and study Korean, albeit for only two short months. After that I moved to Beijing, and didn't return until 2008 to shoot two short films in Seoul. Later that year I returned to serve as a jury member for the NETPAC jury at the Jeonju International Film Festival, and then again in April 2009 I made a brief visa run to Seoul for a few days. For now these last two trips are the only ones I've had time to put up pictures for, but eventually I'll get some pictures of my earlier Korea trips up as well. And maybe after that I'll finally move to Korea for a more extended period of time (as I've always hoped to do) and take many more pictures to post here!
