Indonesia
Bali, Komodo dragons, and orangutans have become the most notable features of this archipelago country, and it was for the first one that I made my first trip to Indonesia. Not so much because I was interested in checking out the surfing and night clubs of Kuta, but because the East West Center was holding their alumni conference in Bali and I was asked again to be the photographer. Which meant that Komodo dragons and orangutans would unfortunately not be on the agenda. Fortunately I did manage to squeeze in a week of traveling after the conference, exploring a little bit of Bali on motorcycle and flying to Jogja and Jakarta on the island of Java to visit some old friends I knew from my days back at the East West Center. Utterly exhausted from having just completed four months (six months counting location scouting!) of shooting on 'The Warrior and The Wolf' film in Xinjiang, I took it easy during this week of travel and didn't take my camera with me everywhere like I normally do when I'm traveling. But I still took my fair share of pictures, and having not done much travel photography for the last several years, I was fairly happy with the shots I got.
