Kunming
Capital of Yunnan province, Kunming is a pretty sizable city, and given its temperate weather and close proximity to many of Yunnan's spectacular sites, it's quickly becoming a popular city for rich Chinese to buy a second home (or their first). Unfortunately this means the cost of living in this city has skyrocketed in recent years, making it one of the five most expensive cities in China despite being located far inland.
I've visited this reasonably charming city numerous times, most recently just for two short days on my way home to Beijing after working on a film in nearby Dali. For now the handful of pictures I took on that trip are all I have to offer here. The first day Narenhua and I arrived in the afternoon and I just took some random pictures while walking around the central part of town. The second day before catching our flight back to Beijing we visited The Loft, Kunming's much smaller (and less pretentious) version of Beijing's 798 art district.
