Inner Mongolia

Home to a greater number of Mongolians than Mongolia itself, this third-largest province in China is home to a number of other ethnicities, although increasingly like just about every other part of China it is the Han Chinese that now make up the vast majority of the population and dominate the local economy here. Still, it's actually easier in many ways to get a taste of Mongolian life and culture here than in Mongolia, as the grasslands here are much more accessible and the climate more temperate than the inhospitable lands of neighboring lands to the north. I've only made two trips to Inner Mongolia, and the more recent one was for a visa run to Mongolia so I only passed through and spent a night in the border town of Erenhot, which for now are the only pictures I've put up here. Check out the Mongolia gallery for the majority of the pictures from that trip.
