My Chengdu friend Linzi was visiting Beijing with two friends and we decided to spend an afternoon together at 798, Beijing's avant-garde art center that has sprung up the past several years in an old industrial district. My Hong Kong friend Charlotte was visiting Beijing at the same time and I ended up meeting up with her and her friends there too.
